A pair
of CGN6685 Line Array Meter Modules, stacked two high, are pictured on the right. Each Ribbon line array is
a one meter high building block that can be easily assembled into long columns. A three high rig is aproximately
10 ft. in length and will "throw"a long way with pattern control to lower frequencies. This column approach
is often a much more economical way to build arrays when compared to typical curvilinear systems. Typical line array
enclosures have expensive multi-position flying hardware, require multiple in-out cabling and use up a lot of amplifers.
In many cases your paying a lot more for features that you don't need.
The CGN6685 is a 2-way loudspeaker
with six 6.5"woofers (opt. Neo6.5"), and five 8" Push-Pull Neodymium Ribbons in an
ultra light weight composite enclosure. They are available in Black or White finish with internal Flying / mounting hardware A *New* Neo version of the CGN6685 with video shielded, high output Neo6.5" woofers , is also available. It
weighs only 26 Lbs!
This site has 5 pages & was last updated 08-06-2010 FYI www.neoloudspeakers.com
is one of our websites that has more information about Neodymium loudspeakers The
AES link below will lead to a number of papers about ribbons. Unfortunately you will have to purchase them.

- We
are your ribbon network on the web. We have a lot of experience and contacts. We know the benifits and the limitations
of current ribbon technology. So if your feel that your application requires a ribbon we can be of service.
- Most
ribbons have a very thin form factor and are very lightweight compared to conventional transducers. Good ribbon
driver technology becomes apparant when listening to the incredibly fast transient response, ultra low distortion, high sensitivity
and extended frequency response (typically beyond 40 kHz)of these compact ribbon drivers. The flat radiating surface of a
ribbon is ideal for the radiation of sound. A ribbon diaphragm is also evenly driven across its entire surface . The sound
emanates from the ribbon as a coherent wave front that is free from resonances, cancellations or delays. It's a minimalist
approach to producing sound with out compression chambers, throats, phase plugs, or voice coil formers. There are no obstructions
and the ribbon diaphragm is ideally coupled to the air load in front of it so the sound expands naturally with even dispersion
over its entire frequency range. A ribbon driver is also a purely resistive load (non inductive) so any amplifier easily drives
it. It is also easy to passively crossover. Networks can be much more elegant and straightforward in there design. You can
eliminate many of the complicated impedance compensation filters found in conventional designs. One can often use a more purist
approach to system designs that results in better transitions between drivers , less distortion, more dynamic range and consistent
polars in the critical crossover region. In sum ribbon drivers have certain inherent advantages over conventional speakers
and are a good choice whenever audiophile sound is required. For more information about us please see the link to CGN audio
